Getting Ballsy Got Me Squat

Friends are always saying things like, 'go after him, whats the worst that could happen?' Well the worst that could happen is me getting shot, but this came pretty close.

I asked a boy out once, to a girls choice school dance. Yes me, I asked him, to go to a dance. Shocker. It was all quite simple actually. He was best friends with Lexi's boyfriend. It would of been a simple double date, without the pressure of going alone and what not. We all knew each other and were comfortable hanging out with one anther. Or so I thought.

That is to say I was comfortable with everybody, he was cripplingly shy. Apparently, once he gets to know you he is slightly more outgoing. WELP, I asked him anyway because honestly I thought it would make him comfortable to go in a group...

...aaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnddddd I had a slight crush on him.

So durring junior year all of my high school class had to take government. It was the time of the year where people were passing around surveys for a class grade. I didn't have government, but that didn't mean I would pass on a way to ask him.

He is so shy, any public asking would result in major blushing. All I had to do was slip him a paper with the following questions:

1) What is your age?
2) What is your political affiliation?
3) Who should be the next president?
4) Do you like music?
     Yes          No
5) Will you go to Sadies with me?
     Yes          No

He knew it was from me, and he just gave it my friend to give it me. (Very high school, so sue me.)
The fifth answer came back nothing circle. The only answer I cared about came back with this written underneath:

".......suuure.........................................."

Who does that? Needless to say I was basically regretting breathing air that morning. I was panicking and I needed to know what theta meant. My friend said he was just awkward, and thought it must of been me, so we solved it using the age old trick of asking him over Facebook.

My friend messaged him plain and simple if he really wanted to go and big shocker, he said:
"No not really, I just didn't want to be mean."

She told me what he said and the next day I told him I had family coming in that day and would have to bail. Not my strongest argument, but he didn't question. He messaged back my friend the same day and was all, "Did you tell Brie? She told me she couldn't go." and she of corse said no again.

Of corse she told me dude!

It's happened time and time again, boys ask girls to not tell their best friends, but we do. Don't acted shocked. I wasn't offended, but it sucked I didn't go.

SO ANYWAY, I asked a boy and this is what happened, outgoingness is overrated.
